How To Make Calls With Alexa

Here we are discussing How To Make Calls With Alexa; Trying to keep away from your phone? Or perhaps you’d like to save money on phone calls? Then you’ll be happy to learn that you can use your Alexa speaker to make free calls to Amazon Echo speakers, mobile numbers, and landlines.

Phone calls frequently arrive at inconvenient times; there are few things more aggravating than having your phone ring when you’re knee-deep in dishes or battling renegade red shells in a frantic Mario Kart match.

Making and receiving calls with Alexa allows you to stay in touch with your family and friends while being completely hands-free.

Alexa Communication is described by Amazon as “a service that allows free calling and messaging between supported Echo devices and the Alexa app,” and includes Alexa-to-Alexa calling, Alexa-to-Alexa messaging, and mobile/landline calls.

Here’s everything you need to know about how to make calls with Alexa and send messages.

How to sign up for Alexa calling?

To use Alexa to make and receive calls, you must first sign up for Alexa Communication.

To do so, launch the Alexa app on your phone or tablet, which must be running iOS 10.0, Android OS 5.1, or FireOS 5.6.0.1 or above.

Then, to verify your cellphone number, pick the Communicate symbol (it looks like a little speaking bubble) and follow the on-screen instructions.

EE recently stated that SIM-only and pay-monthly customers will be able to make and receive calls on their Echo speakers, which will be deducted from your monthly limit (unless you go over that allowance of course). Even if your phone’s battery runs out, you can still answer calls to your mobile number.

Text Alexa to 150 and follow the instructions to get started.

How To Make Calls With Alexa? How to enable Alexa calling with your voice?

You may use your voice to call a friend’s landline, cell phone, or – if they have one – their Echo speaker using your Echo.

Assume you want to call Alicia, your friend. While calling her on her cellphone, say “call Alicia’s cellphone,” and when calling her on her landline, say “call Alicia’s home phone.”

You can even say “call Alicia’s Echo” to be connected to her smart speaker if she has an Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Studio, or any other Echo speaker at home.

If you have multiple Echo speakers in your home, you can use Drop In to connect devices like a two-way intercom – for example, if you want to tell your housemate that dinner is ready but don’t want to go upstairs, you can use the Echo Show in your kitchen to ‘call’ the Echo Dot with Clock in their bedroom. Before the Drop-In feature is enabled, both users must grant permission; once enabled, the light on your Echo pulses green, and you’re immediately connected with the other person.

How To Make Calls With Alexa with Alexa? Who can I contact?

There are a few caveats to Alexa’s ability to contact any cell number, landline, or compatible Echo speaker.

You can’t dial the emergency services or “premium-rate numbers,” for example. You also won’t be able to call numbers outside of the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, or Mexico, as these are the only countries that accept Alexa calling for now.

We’d like to see emergency services incorporated in the future: being able to contact an ambulance hands-free seems like a great life-saving solution for folks who can’t reach their phone or who may have fallen in their home. While the Metropolitan Police Service of London is rumoured to be working on this function for locals, it has yet to be implemented.

How to receive calls on Alexa?

There are some restrictions if you’re in the UK since only EE and Vodafone Red pay monthly subscribers can use the network’s One Number service to accept calls on Alexa speakers.

The light on your Echo device glows green when you have an incoming call, and a ringtone play (your handset will also ring). Alexa will then inform you who is calling based on your contacts list; simply say “answer” to answer the call.

You can also say “ignore” if you don’t want to answer the phone. This will disable the ringtone on your Echo speaker but not on your phone, though you can mute your phone’s ringtone if you wish to just be notified through your speaker.

If you have many Alexa speakers throughout your home, you may designate one to operate as a hub for inbound calls so that they don’t all ring at the same time, and you can quickly enable and disable inbound calls.

Send a message through Alexa

With your Echo device, you may also send SMS messages hands-free. “Alexa, send a message,” and Alexa will prompt you for the recipient’s name. After you’ve given Alexa your contact information, she’ll ask you for the message’s content, after which you can dictate what you want your SMS to say. Alexa will send the message to your contact after you’re finished.

This can also be done with the Alexa app on your smartphone or tablet. Simply launch the app and tap the Conversations tab.

To narrate your message, choose the name of the person you wish to send the message to and hold down the microphone icon. If you prefer, you can do it the old-fashioned way by typing on your device’s keyboard.

Messages will be transmitted to the recipient’s Echo speaker and Alexa app on their smartphone, rather than straight to their phone.

When they receive a message, the light on their Echo will flash yellow, and all they have to do is say “play message” to hear it. They’ll also get a notification on their smartphone or tablet via the Alexa app, and they’ll be able to listen to the contents even if they’re not near their Echo speaker.
