WhatsApp Is Developing A New Feature That Could Alter How You Use It

WABetaInfo discovered the update in the settings menu under an account’s Profile page after digging through the files of the latest Android beta. By tapping the pencil icon and then entering a name, it appears you will be able to give yourself a unique moniker. It’s all very simple. WABetaInfo also confirmed that “conversations initiated through usernames will continue to be protected by end-to-end encryption.”

Aside from the few confirmations, little is known about the feature. Although it is still in development, WABetaInfo suggests that it could be used as “another layer of privacy.” Instead of displaying your phone number to the world, you can conceal it with a username. They can also help you identify and locate other people. There is no need to remember a phone number. This could be very useful in a WhatsApp Community, which can house over 1,000 members and can be a verifiable sea of numbers.
