WhatsApp is developing a new feature that could alter how you use it

WhatsApp has been on a roll lately, releasing new features one after the other since March. This time, it is rumored that the platform is working on adding usernames to its Android app.

WABetaInfo discovered the update in the settings menu under an account’s Profile page after digging through the files of the latest Android beta. By tapping the pencil icon and then entering a name, it appears you will be able to give yourself a unique moniker. It’s all very simple. WABetaInfo also confirmed that “conversations initiated through usernames will continue to be protected by end-to-end encryption.”
